Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam Review

by Kal on May 30, 2011

Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam

The first Mobile Suit Gundam focused on the One Year War that took place in Universal Century 0079 – 0080 and now after seven year of the end of the One Year War, the Earth Federation has organized the Titans, an elite fighting force to hunt down the remaining of Zeon remnants. However, the Titans soon get out of hand and becoming tyrants by starting to restore violence and brutal methods to achieve their goals and acquire the Earth Sphere. Therefore, anti-Titans groups were risen to stand against their ruthless reign, and those groups were Anti-Earth Union Group or aka AEUG for short, and Karaba based on Earth; and both groups unite forces to defeat the Titan.

Kamille Bidan is the protagonist of this series and he became an AEUG member to fight the titans along with Quattro Bajeena a former Zeon pilot who kept his identity hidden by his unknown name. They both joined the assault cruiser Argama captained by Bright Noa the former captain of the White Base during the One Year War. Quattro took Kamille under his wings and became his mentor, Kamille admired him greatly with his unbeatable skills but knowing nothing about his past.

Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam

Amuro Ray dragged unwillingly to join Karaba in their fight, and then became as enthusiastic as he used to be 7 years ago. And when AEUG joined forces with Karaba, Amuro identified Quattro Bajeena at once, Quattro was Char Aznable!

So, now you can imagine Amuro Ray, Char Aznable, Bright Noa, and a new skilled pilot Kamille Bidan all fighting in the same side. That wasn’t the reason why I ranked Zeta as the best Gundam so far; the storyline told very well specially that Amuro and Char used to be enemies once but they joined the same cause to stop a tyrant. A whole new cool characters appeared in Zeta plus the amazing new designed mobile suits, there are three Gundams in this series! and ones of the toughest Gundams ever made; they are: Gundam Mk-II(the black Gundam and then became white),Hyaku Shiki (Delta Gundam), and Zeta Gundam.

Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam is an amazing series that is a must for every anime fan to watch, not just for mecha lovers or Gundam fans in particular, but to watch it and love it, you must watch the Mobile Suit Gundam first to comprehend who’s who and what is what. It has one of the best action scenes with a lot of fights, a love story, a thriller, it’s an all in one.

TEKKEN: Blood Vengeance Cast

TEKKEN 3D Movie

I believe most of you read or heard the news about the new TEKKEN 3D movie “TEKKEN: Blood Vengeance *trailer below* that will be premiered in the US summer 2011 before its release in Japan on September. This movie is intended to omit your awful memory about the previous releases of the live-action or the 2D edition:

There was an odd movie made by Hollywood already, but please forget about it. *laughs*

Tekken project director Katsuhiro Harada

Tekken 3d movie cast

I’ve always thought Tekken has a great storyline and superb characters to create a strong movie/series’ plot; therefore it deserves a decent well-made movie either in 2D or 3D, no live-action please. And finally Bandai Namco Games took the move to do so before Hollywood does more harm than good to the Tekken franchise as they did to Street Fighter.

So, that being said, here’s the cast of the upcoming CGI movie:

  • Maaya Sakamoto as Ling Xiao Yu = Mari Makinami from Evangelion
  • Yuki Matsuoka as Alisa Bosconovitch = Orihime Inoue from BLEACH
  • Mamoru Miyanoa as Kamiya Shin = Zero from Ultra Galaxy Legends
  • Shinohara Masanori as Heihachi Mishima = Best House 123 (Narration)
  • Chiba Kazanobu as Jin Kazama = Chiba from Detective Conan
  • Atsuko Tanaka as Nina Williams = Makoto Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell
  • Akira Watanabe as Anna Williams = Yuuki Rito from To Love Ru

Youichi Mouri is the director of the movie, Yoshinari Mizushima is the art director of Tekken and one of the movie’s producers. Script is written by Dai Sato (Casshern, Cowboy Bebop, Eureka Seven), and Shinji Higuchi (Evangelion, Gunbuster, Vandread) handled the storyboards!

Summer Wars Review

by Kal on May 21, 2011

Summer Wars

Koiso Kenji is an eleventh-grader math nerd who works in the summer as a part time computer technician for the virtual world of Oz, he is invited by the most popular girl at his high school Natsuki to her big family’s home for a summer job, the job is to pretend he is her fiancé to please her grandmother. And it’s all started when Kenji received a strange mathematical puzzle on his cell phone that he solved, and that turns out to be the security code for the world of OZ. Once Kenji solved the puzzle and sent it, a virus called Love Machine penetrated the whole system and starts to dominate the world of OZ beating other avatars and sucking out their powers. Thus it controlled the infrastructure of the real world too.

The World of OZ - Summer Wars

The movie was directed by Mamoru Hosoda the same man who directed The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and produced by Madhouse. I really don’t know how to categorize this movie, is it a funny one, action, love story, or family, because it has all of that. It’s a sci-fi for sure but it emphasizes on the bonding of the family and the importance of living and relying on the real world other than the virtual ones such as the world of OZ in this movie. People should stick together and help each other by letting everyone doing his/her part in the society. We use technology to assist us get through the hardness of this life not to replace us. Imagine your country defense line was compromised because someone is just too good to hack facebook! That what I got from Summer Wars, besides it’s done by Mamoru Hosoda and from Madhouse so I can’t add much for the brilliant picture they’ve produce. Except I hoped for more King Kazuma fighting scenes, other than that it’s beautiful!
