If you are a Metal Gear Solid fan you must have read the news that David Hayter, who was voicing Snake since 1998, was not asked to reprise his role as Snake anymore, and you must have hated KONAMI for that. I don’t blame anyone who felt that way, Hayter was really good and he has been there for such a long time and his voice matched Snake’s character so well that when I read about it I just knew they won’t find any better plus I couldn’t think of anyone better than him. But, 2 days ago KONAMI announced on a pre-E3 presentation that Kiefer Sutherland will replace David Hayter in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V. If that’s not a good news I don’t know what it is since Kiefer has the perfect deep voice for Snake, although that’s not the only reason why Hideo Kojima, the creator of Metal Gear Solid, chose Kiefer for.
Hideo Kojima said he was looking for an “actor” who could convey both the facial expressions and the voice of Snake, that explains the reason behind choosing Kiefer over Hayter. Kojima asked the producer Avi Arad for an advice and he’s the one who introduced him to Kiefer Sutherland.
Forward to the 10:30 minutes for the announcement of Metal Gear Solid if you don’t want to watch the whole presentation.
To David Hayter, thank you for all those amazing years nailing the role of Snake.
